Latin Name: Copaifera Officinalis
Extraction: Harvested from natural oleoresin.
Aroma: Soft woodsy, slightly sweet yet spicy-peppery aroma.
BOTANY
Native to Brazil, Copaiba evergreen tree can grow up to 100 feet in height, spurting yellow flowers and reddish fruits. When tapped, they yield clear, odourless oily resin to produce essential oils through steam distillation process. The tapped trees are then left to rest for three years between extractions.

USES IN AROMATHERAPY
Mind/Emotional:
As with many other resins, Copaiba balsam is energetically helpful in healing old trauma. It is widely used in meditation because of its calming and centering effect that can harmonizes and balances our nervous system.
This oil allows one to build resiliency and tenacity; and stronger emotionally. It is an oil that is supportive of relationship and harmony.
Body/Physical:
Copaiba balsam oil contains a high proportion of β-caryophyllene. This chemical component is anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-spasmodic and have immune-stimulant properties. As such, it is well suited for respiratory issues (expectorant for bronchitis, coughs, colds) and pain of all sorts. It makes a good oil for formulae for chest rub, muscle rub, calming massage and a fixative for perfumes.
Traditionally, indigenous tribes use the resin topically as wound healer, to stop bleeding as well as for skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, chapped skin, rashes, poor circulation, skin sores and so forth.
It is also used as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic for the urinary tract (for cystitis, bladder and kidney infections).

Safety: No known safety concerns. Dilute before using. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Pregnancy safe and nursing safe.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult physician. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.

HOW TO USE
Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
