Latin Name: Boswellia Carterii
Extraction: CO2 extraction from the resins.
Aroma: Fresh, resinous, earthy and coniferous scent with slight citrus note.
BOTANY
Also known as Olibanum, Frankincense originates from the Middle East. The tree can grow to about 20 feet and sprouts glossy leaves and white flowers. Incisions are made into the bark to extract a white milky resin which turns into hard, orange-brown resin that is then steam distilled to produce essential oil.

USES IN AROMATHERAPY
Mind/Emotional:
Frankincense has traditional and scared uses for protection, cleansing of aura (energy field) and tranquility of mind. This essential oil has been traditionally used in meditation purposes.
Because it is protective and purifying, it has soothing effect on mind troubled by thoughts of regret and worries, suffering of loss of loved ones as well as fear coming from changes in life events.
The oil is euphoric. It can uplift your mood and boost a sense of well-being that ‘things will be okay tomorrow’.
Body/Physical:
Renowned as the ‘Oil of youth’, Frankincense Carterii is wonderful for the skin. It is both cicatrisant and cytophylactic. It is skin healing for acne, scarring, stretch marks, boils and other skin problems. As a cytophylactic, it promotes healthy skin regeneration by keeping the skin cells and tissues healthy. Effective as an antiseptic, it also heals wounds and cuts.
On physical level, Frankincense is high in monoterpenes and a powerful expectorant and decongestant, which makes it effective for respiratory conditions such as cold, flu, cough, congestion, bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia and other lung issues. It can help clear lungs at time of shortness of breath.
Great for digestive issues, the oil speeds up secretion of digestive juices and relieves symptoms of indigestion and flatulence.
Being rubefacient and having analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, Frankincense is particularly beneficial for muscle pain, stiffness as it can penetrate the tissues of the body easily.

HOW TO USE
Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
