BOTANY
Fruiting all year round, Lemon grows on a small, thorny evergreen with oval leaves, irregular branches and fragrant flowers. The fruits turn yellow from green as it ripens. The trees are widely cultivated in Australia, Italy, Sicily, France, Brazil and the States.

Mind/Emotional:
The bright, uplifting scent of Lemon essential oil is said to sharpen attention and focus; and aid concentration and thinking, especially during study and problem-solving situations.
Psychologically, it lightens, refreshes and disperses confusion and worries – and mind clouded by burdens, indecision and obstacles. According to Suzanne Fischer-Rizzi, Lemon is a ‘rational’ oil that can help comfort or prevent stormy emotional outbursts.
It makes it easier to handle stresses in life with a cheerful and optimistic perspective; as well as fearless strength. Limonene in Lemon may reduce stress, anxiety and inflammation.
Body/Physical:
This citrus oil predominantly makes up of d-Limonene, which makes it a powerfully therapeutic oil for mind, body and spirit well-being.
Energetically, Lemon has a ‘cool’ and ‘dry’ effect which makes it suitable for clearing Damp-Heat, such as excessive heat, pain, headache migraine, swollen gum, nervous tension, irritability, restlessness, tinnitus, nose bleeding, constipation, lymphatic congestion and so forth.
This oil supports the respiratory system and is useful for asthma, sore throat, sinusitis, bronchitis, sore throats and most respiratory complaints.
Nicholas Lemery, the neo-Galenic pharmacist, praised the oil to be effective blood cleanser and carminative. It is a digestive tonic that calm intestines and useful for indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence and tummy spasms. Not only does it counteract over-acidity in the body, it also activates the stomach and liver as it aids the secretion of bile to break down fats; keeping cholesterol, obesity and abscesses in check. Think internal degreaser when you think of Lemon.
Limonene was found to be able to dissolve gallstones. It activates liver detox enzymes responsible for clearing toxins. As a cleanser and diuretic, Lemon is ideal for dealing with excess uric acid in the body can result in uric acid crystals formation in the body that lead to pain and inflammation of joints i.e. gout, rheumatism and arthritis. As a powerful anti-inflammatory, it is also an effective pain reliever.
Together with white Thyme, Lemongrass and Cinnamon; Lemon has been tested against MRSA.
Its tonifying effect on circulatory system means that it can be used for cellulite, varicose veins and high blood pressure.
Lemon is an immune booster. In studies with rats, Limonene had proven to produce more antibodies when exposed to foreign antigens; showing that it can help fight bacteria and reduce allergic reactions.
Widely used in skincare as cleanser and antiseptic, it treats skin infection, warts, boils, fungal infection such as athletic foot. It works excellent on greasy and oily skin and hairs because Lemon also works as a skin penetrator. It can penetrate into dermis faster and easier.
Choose Lemon essential oil if you are looking for an antioxidant. Limonene builds up in tissues and can prevent cell damages and counteract effects of free radicals that affect DNA mutation which may lead to risk of cancer.
SAFETY & SHELF LIFE
Safety: This oil is photosensitizing. Dilute before using with a maximum dermal use of 2%. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight on skin for 12 hours after applying the diluted oil over maximum dermal use level. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Pregnancy safe and nursing safe.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult physician. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.

Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
