Latin Name: Citrus Aurantifolia
Extraction: Cold pressed from the rind of semi ripe peel.
Aroma: Sweet, clean yet rich and fresh fruity aroma that is well rounded like zest of fresh lime peel.
 
BOTANY
Originally from Asia, the cultivation of lime trees has expanded worldwide today. The small evergreen tree has drooping branches and oval leaves, much like Lemon. The essential oil is cold pressed from the rind of fruit of the green limes that has yellow-green colour.

Bright and zesty scent of Lime essential oil is awakening and uplifting to spirit and mood. It brings about positivity, abundance and optimism.
 
Robbi Zeck ND, in ‘The Blossoming Heart’, describes the oil as “tangy, bright… and settles, calms and refreshes the emotions, allowing feelings to be explored and released constructively.” “When you are feeling agitated, in great turmoil or dealing with stressful situations, Lime clears any heated emotions and returns you to a place of calm and ease.”
 
Like many citrus oils, Lime is comforting yet uplifting at the same time. Pick this oil up when you feel weary of the trials and tribulations; or when you are in need of a relaxing, stress-relieving benefit. Simple diffusion is also a perfect way to overcome exhaustion, listlessness and low ebb.
 
Body/Physical:
In skin care, Lime essential oil acts as tightening and toning astringent that can reduce production of excess oil, meaning that it helps to control oily skin or blemishes.
 
As an antioxidant, the Limonene also supports absorption of nutrients for a clean and vibrant-looking skin. Hence, the oil is commonly used in skin care for acnes, wrinkles, scars, uneven skin tone, sagging skin, dull complexion and dark spots. It also reduces dandruffs and dry itchy scalp; leaving the hairs shiny and healthy.
 
As an immune booster, it stimulates immune system to increase production of leukocytes that fight infections. Additionally, it has antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-viral and anti-microbial properties, Lime can be blended with other known immune-boosting oils e.g. Eucalyptus, Nerolina, Kunzea, etc to clear congested airways and decongest phlegm.
 
Being a mild detoxifier, you may use it for cleansing and detoxification. This includes fluid retention and cellulite, as well as other metabolic ailments such as liver cleansing, digestive difficulties and gallstones or inflammation of gall bladder. The oil also works on stabilizing blood pressure fluctuations.
 
Lime has a beautifully refreshing and clean scent. As we spend 90% of our time indoors, it is an excellent oil for purifying the air of our home to create a vibrant, joyful and clean atmosphere.
 
SAFETY & SHELF LIFE
Safety: Has a GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) status. However, this oil is photosensitizing. Dilute before using. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight on skin for 12 hours after applying topically. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Pregnancy safe and nursing safe.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult physician. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.
Shelf Life: 2-3 Years
 
HOW TO USE
Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
