USES IN AROMATHERAPY
Mind/Emotional:
Energetically, Tea Tree oil is a ‘warm’ and ‘dry’ oil. It has a stimulating action on our body to address poor circulation, sluggishness and debility or lack of strength.
Gabriel Mojay describes the oil to be well suited for physically delicate person suffering from ill health, low esteem or those struggling not just with their bodies but also with a victim mindset that can easily exacerbate chronic ill health.
The spicy, bittersweet and camphorous scent of Tea Tree can promote patience, confidence, energy and raise tolerance in hardships and growth in challenging environment. This is a reason why Tea Tree is well loved by anyone dealing with chronic stress and anxiety issues.
You may use this oil in meditation for spiritual and emotional cleansing and healing.
Body/Physical:
Tea Tree essential oil is one of the most well known and widely used oils in aromatherapy. The key critical component, Terpinene-4-ol, has been studied to kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is also studied to increase white blood cells activities in fighting foreign invaders that trigger allergic responses in our immune system.
These compounds, which also give the oil its distinctive medicinal aroma, contribute to the oil’s most powerful anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. In the reference book ‘Life helping Life’ by Daniel and Rose-Mariel Pénoël, they describe Tea Tree’s great potential as an antibacterial agent (contrary to conventional antibiotics) due to its ability to attack only destructive bacteria.
Because of its ability to tonify the Lungs and clear out phlegm and damp wind in Oriental medicines terms, Tea Tree is indicated for upper-respiratory viral or bacterial infections, such as conditions of cold, flu, coughs, white or clear catarrh, bronchitis, sinusitis, laryngitis as well as lethargy caused by illnesses.
Tea Tree blends well with other respiratory oils such as Niaouli, Eucalyptus Radiata/Globulus and Ravensara. Sweet Orange oil can bring a sweeter note to the respiratory blend.
It can also strengthen the defensive Qi and weakened immunity of the body to address recurring cold and flu infections so a person can be more resilient to illnesses. It achieves this by greatly shortening the duration of viral infection through weakening and rupturing its cyst.
A diluted tea tree in a massage blend applied to the feet of a sick child before bed can assist the child in recovery from illness.
Tea Tree is widely used in dental preparations such as mouth rinse or throat gargle for throat pain or infection. It is also used in gingivitis, dental abscess as well as remedies for cradle cap, dandruff, head lice, athlete’s foot, nail fungus, ringworm, vaginal thrush, candida overgrowth and warts.
As a mild tissue regenerator, this first-aid essential works excellent on skin infections – cuts, wounds, boils, acnes, pimples, blemishes, cold sores, stings, herpes, shingles, insect bites – thanks to its anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral effects.
You tend to find skincare formula that uses Tea Tree for problem skin or acne-prone skin in teenagers. Many studies had found Tea Tree oil to be just as effective as common dermatological options such as benzyl peroxide in treating acne lesions. The terpenes have impressive antibacterial effect against Propionibacterium acnes to reduce acne breakouts.
