Extraction: Steam distilled from wood chippings from commercial cedarwood production.
Aroma: Rich, sweet, warm and dry woodsy scent, with a good tenacity in the drydown.
BOTANY
Cedar trees are slow growing and can produce bluish green leaves with brown cones. Native to the lands of Morocco and planted across Africa and Middle East for centuries, they are known to denote peace and strength.

Astringent, antibacterial, anti-seborrheic, carminative, cicatrisant, diuretic, expectorant, sedative.
USES IN AROMATHERAPY
Mind/Emotional:
Cedarwood’s warm and embracing aroma has a profoundly soulful and grounding effect which can aid mindful meditation and those with nervous disorders.
Believed to be associated with energy abundance and centering, it is an great oil for massage and blends for spiritual well-being.
Cedarwood oil can enhance feeling of security and protection. With an affinity to the kidney meridian, strength in this meridian bolsters the will to stand firm in decision making, especially in time of crisis, to stand strong and in faith.
This oil has been shown to be effective in treatment of ADHD as it stabilizes beta/theta waves. According to research by Physician Terry S. Friedmann, micro droplets of essential oils are carried to the limbic system of the brain (i.e. processing center for reason, emotion and smell) and to the hypothalamus, which is the hormones command center. He found oils of vetiver, cedarwood, frankincense and lavender beneficial for children with ADD/ADHD. The children had improved brain wave patterns and behavior and did better in school.
Body/Physical:
Due to its antiseptic, astringent and anti-pruritic (anti-itch), Cedarwood essential oil is a good choice for soothing and healing skin disorders such as eczema, dermatitis, scalp problems (e.g. dandruff, hair loss, etc), acne and psoriasis.
The oil is also thought to be a gentle yet effective circulatory and lymphatic stimulant. It encourages lymph drainage, stimulates breakdown of fats in the tissues thus preventing fluid retention and cellulite.
Being a decongestant and a warming ‘yang’ oil, it is beneficial for physical body complaints where underlying condition is coldness or dampness. Benefiting from its mucolytic property, Cedarwood is also useful in helping to loosen and clear mucus and relieving respiratory problems such as chest infection, asthma, chronic cough.

Safety: Dilute before using. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Pregnancy safe and nursing safe.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult physician. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.

HOW TO USE
Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
