Latin Name: Pelargonium Graveolens
Extraction: Steam distilled from the flowers, leaves and stalks.
Aroma: Fresh, leafy rose-like floral scent with somewhat sweet-herbaceous/green body note.
BOTANY
Geranium Bourbon has an intoxicating scent and attractive appearance. Found in Europe as well as Egypt and South Africa, it can grow about 2 feet high with serrated, pointed leaves; bearing small pink flowers.
There are about 200 species of ‘Geranium’ but typically, only 5 are commercialized as essential oils.

USES IN AROMATHERAPY
Mind/Emotional:
Geranium essential oil harmonizes and balances yin and yang. It attracts positivity, keeping away negativity. In other words, it can assist one to release negative memories, especially those who tend to dwell on the past and refuse to let go of past emotional traumas.
Uplifting and excellent as an anti-depressant, this oil is beneficial for nervous fatigue, exhaustion, anxiety, stress, hormonal mood swings, restlessness and irritability.
Body/Physical:
Geranium is not just mentally balancing, it is also physically soothing and regulating. It is known to regulate sebum production for both dry and oily skin (skin balancing between oiliness and dryness).
Naturally anti-inflammatory, it actively boosts youthful glow to the skin (great for anti-aging blend) as well as bruises, burns, cuts, breakouts and problem skin associated with eczema. By encouraging skin tissues regeneration, it improves scars healing.
Geranium is a tonic for adrenal cortex that regulates the releases of hormones. Hence, it helps maintain hormonal balance specifically for puberty, menstrual irregularities, menopause and sterility.
As a lymphatic and circulatory stimulant, the oil can be used to detox the lymphatic system, discharge toxin from liver and aids kidney and gall bladder functions. It is also helpful in reducing cellulite appearance on the skin.
SAFETY & SHELF LIFE
Safety: Has GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) status. Low risk of skin irritation but may have contraindication with diabetic drugs. Dilute before using. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Pregnancy safe and nursing safe.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult physician. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.
Shelf Life: 2-4 Years
HOW TO USE
Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
