Extraction: Steam distilled from the unpeeled, ground dried root.
Aroma: Warm, fresh, spicy and somewhat pungent aroma with tenacious woody-sweet undertone.
BOTANY
The ginger plant is an upright perennial herb that grows up to 3 feet in height. It has spreading thick rhizomes that carry a very strong aroma. Approximately 1kg of essential oil can be obtained from about 150kg of dried rhizomes.

Ginger essential oil is energizing and warming. It can increase physical energy and stamina, especially when one is feeling sick; it relieves feeling of anxiety, exhaustion and depression.
The aroma of this oil strengthens our will power and drives us to take initiative to tackle and handle hard tasks in our life with strong determination.
As an ‘Oil of empowerment’, the emotional impact of Ginger is unwavering as it can boost our confidence and give us more courage, clarity, vitality and clearer vision.
It is also considered aphrodisiac.
Body/Physical:
Traditionally, Ginger has been widely used since ancient times to support digestive health. It has the ability to curb queasy feeling from heavy meals or motion sickness. Smelling the distinct aroma can relieve nausea, flatulence, colic, stomachache and occasional indigestion. It can be used to treat sickness following surgery, during chemotherapy and even during pregnancy.
Zingibain, an active constituent of Ginger oil, is a potent anti-inflammatory. This makes it particulary effective for pain relief such as those suffering from rheumatism, and it works as a long term solution to heal or repair inflamed areas and to soothe sore muscles and other discomfort due to inflammation.
Being an astringent, it works effectively to repair epidermis, hyperpigmentation, stubborn scars and blemishes.
Research shows that Ginger is an expectorant and a great remedy for all sorts of respiratory ailments such as colds, flu, asthma, cough, bronchitis, shortness of breath and so forth. Like Peppermint and Rosemary oils, inhaling this oil can aid to clear up excess mucus from the throat and lungs to improve breathing.
It has strong antiseptic and purifying effects and known to inhibit infections from microorganisms and bacteria. Therefore, it is helpful in healing stubborn acne and clear up breakouts.
SAFETY & SHELF LIFE
Safety: Has GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) status with no known safety concerns. Ginger is extremely potent and can irritate skin if not properly diluted. Dilute before using with recommended dermal use level of 0.5% to 1% (overuse can cause headache as the oil can open capillaries very quickly). A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Pregnancy safe and nursing safe.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult physician. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.

HOW TO USE
Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil/aroma diffuser or personal pocket inhaler.
Apply Topically: This essential oil is 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high quality carrier oils or Carrier Oils Complex. Refer to our dilution chart. We recommend performing a skin patch test when using a new essential oil topically.
